Vispoli made a difference during gas crisis

Editor, Townsman:

I am writing this letter in support of Alex Vispoli’s re-election to the Board of Selectman. While I have not known Alex for an extended period of time like some other writers have, I have found him to be approachable, proactive and honest. More importantly, Alex’s tireless efforts to do what’s best for the town and its residents are as clear today as they were 15 years ago.

I’d like to share a story about Alex during the gas crisis in the fall, in which he worked countless hours on behalf of all town residents.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, after scouring every source I could find about hot water replacements, I could only come up with mention that permanent solutions would be reimbursed by Columbia Gas. Wanting a solution that allowed me to revert back to gas, I went to the emergency center at the Old Town Hall at 7:30 a.m. to see what could be done.

At that time Alex was leaving the emergency center where we discussed temporary solution reimbursement. After quick, but careful consideration, he immediately went into action. Within five hours of that conversation there was an official communication from Columbia Gas, and our town leaders, that temporary solutions would be reimbursed.

I realize that was an exceptional time, but throughout the crisis Alex was reachable virtually around the clock to listen to and act on behalf of the town residents.

Alex is the type of leader we need in Andover.
